Football Standouts Break Records

Two senior football players captured top honors for large schools. Running back Omar Mabson was named Offensive Player of the Year after a stellar season in which he amassed over 1,500 rushing yards and set a single-season school record with 29 rushing touchdowns .

Quarterback Jackson Kilgore earned the Breakthrough Player of the Year award. Returning from a collarbone injury that sidelined him during his junior year, Kilgore threw for over 2,500 yards and logged 25 touchdowns with only three interceptions. His leadership was instrumental in the Tigers’ offensive success.

Eight Tigers were named to the All-Area first team. Wide receiver Peyton Plott led the receiving corps with 972 yards and six touchdown catches. Offensive linemen Clem Womack and Hugh Bodiford anchored the line, each grading out over 90% throughout the season.

On defense, linebackers Greg Williams and Jackson Lovvorn formed a formidable duo, each surpassing 100 tackles . Sophomore Lindsey Faison earned first-team honors with 412 kills , indicating a bright future ahead. Second-team selections included Connely Etheredge , who notched 273 kills and 26 aces , and Harper Gamble , who contributed 248 kills and 41 aces .

Flag Football Stars Shine

In the burgeoning sport of flag football, Auburn High advanced to the semifinals of the Class 6A-7A state playoffs. Quarterback Brooke Hallman , a three-year starter, led the way with just under 3,000 total yards and 45 touchdowns , earning her a spot on the All-Area first team. Running back Jade Evans joined her after rushing for 515 yards and catching 12 touchdown passes.

Second-team honors went to wide receivers Reese Kelly and Caitlyn Brock . Kelly caught 52 passes and scored 10 touchdowns , while Brock hauled in 38 receptions , 15 of which resulted in touchdowns. Sophomore Marley Hunt received an honorable mention with 43 receptions and nine touchdowns , signaling continued strength in the program.
