Robeson County’s basketball season ended with a host of accolades from The Robesonian, and the Lumberton Pirates emerged as a dominant force. The team clinched Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Most Improved Player honors in this year’s All-County selections.

Brian Wilson has earned the 2025 Morning News Football Coach of the Year honor by steering the Tigers from a disheartening 1-9 record to an impressive 7-5 season. His leadership not only turned fortunes around but also propelled the team to a first-round playoff victory.

Jean-Guy Trudel, coach of the Peoria Rivermen, has been honored as the SPHL Coach of the Year. This marks the fourth time he has received the league’s highest coaching accolade during his tenure.
