On Monday, the Athens County Board of Commissioners held their first meeting with Tami Collins, the newly appointed executive director of the Athens County Department of Job and Family Services. Her arrival marks a new chapter for a department that oversees vital social support programs in the county.

The Texas Board of Criminal Justice voted Tuesday in Austin to appoint Bobby Lumpkin as Executive Director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Lumpkin will formally take the helm on Sept. 1.
