Archaeologists and collectors once dug up over 1,700 Native American remains from burial grounds in Louisiana during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, many of these ancestral remains are still waiting to be returned to their rightful communities.

The Tolowa Dee-ni Nation is hosting the third annual MMIP Awareness Walk to support Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. The event is scheduled for Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds in Crescent City. Community members are invited to participate.
