Americans are shelling out more money than ever on McDonald’s, according to a new study. Convenience and delivery apps are fueling the spike, with fast-food cravings hitting consumer wallets especially hard.

Advisors Asset Management Inc. has strengthened its position in McDonald’s Corporation, increasing its stake by 7.5% in the first quarter. Recent filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission show the fund purchased an additional 2,799 shares, bringing its total holdings to nearly 40,000 shares, valued at $12.46 million.

McDonald’s is reducing the cost of some of its combo meals to entice budget-minded customers who may have been feeling the pinch of rising fast-food prices. The fast-food giant hopes these lower prices will bring cost-conscious patrons back to its counters and drive-thrus.
