A firefighter lost his life while battling a wildfire that has raged near the Grand Canyon’s North Rim for over two months. Officials say the long-lasting blaze continues to place tremendous strain on firefighting teams, highlighting the risks these responders face.

A wildfire has destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim, the only lodging within that area of the park. Superintendent Ed Keable informed park residents and staff of the significant loss, which includes other structures.
