Robeson County’s basketball season ended with a host of accolades from The Robesonian, and the Lumberton Pirates emerged as a dominant force. The team clinched Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Most Improved Player honors in this year’s All-County selections.

Liberty High School’s standout goalkeeper, Jaxon Vanderhoof, capped off the 2025 season by being named Carroll County’s Player of the Year. With 135 total saves and a 90.6% save percentage, Vanderhoof solidified his reputation as one of the area’s finest high school athletes.

After overcoming a torn ACL, Carmel’s Grace Brown didn’t just return to the softball field—she dominated it, earning the title of 2025 News-Sun Softball Player of the Year. With a remarkable .589 batting average and impressive stats across the board, she proved stronger than ever.
