Joshua Miner, already serving life, has been handed another life sentence after surveillance cameras recorded him strangling cellmate Andrew Ortega at Western Illinois Correctional Center. Ortega, locked up for a non-violent offense, died behind a barred door—an incident that again seals Miner’s fate behind bars.

An inmate at Folsom State Prison was allegedly killed by two other inmates on Friday evening, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The incident involved inmates identified as Boris Bonilla, Carlos J. Duran, and Brian J. Diguez.

An inmate at the federal prison complex in Terre Haute has been sentenced to an additional five years in prison following the fatal stabbing of a fellow inmate in 2023.
