A civilian employee at the Eastern Air Defense Sector in Rome, New York, has been recognized for his outstanding safety work. Named the Air National Guard’s Civilian Safety Professional of the Year for 2026, he exemplifies excellence within the military community.

The American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to six individuals following separate fires in Rome and Cassville. Volunteers from the Central and Northern New York Chapter swiftly assisted four people in Rome and two in Cassville after the weekend blazes.
