In a dramatic finish, the Sacramento State Hornets scored late to hand the Idaho Vandals a narrow 23-20 defeat. Lewiston High grad Cruz Hepburn led the Vandals’ defense with a standout tackling performance.

Sacramento State relied on a pair of dominant rushing performances and clutch special-teams play to edge Northern Colorado 40-35 on Saturday night. Rodney Hammond Jr. and JaQuail Smith each covered more than 100 yards on the ground, while kicker Grant Meadors sealed the deal with two fourth-quarter field goals, including a 42-yarder in the final minutes.
