A 19-year-old Black River Falls man has been charged with felony murder-armed robbery and other offenses following the death of a 16-year-old near Couderay. Authorities say the case involves negligent handling of a weapon, resulting in tragedy for both families.

Sawyer County leaders announced that the American Birkebeiner, held last month, saw “no major incidents,” according to a patrol administrator. The Thursday public safety committee meeting also highlighted ongoing support for Rusk County authorities in a recent missing person and homicide investigation.
