Volunteers across the country are preparing for Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, set for November 17-24. Nearly 5,000 drop-off locations will gather shoebox gifts from citizens, including three in Haywood County, signaling widespread nationwide participation.

Thousands of volunteers have gathered in Placer County this week to pack 400,000 meals for malnourished children around the world. This annual event, known as the Placer Feed My Starving Children MobilePack, reflects a growing local dedication to tackling global hunger.

“When I am feeling burnt out, I am typically focused on myself, so the first thing I do is ask myself ‘Why am I here?'” says award-winning volunteer Valerie Foss of Norway, whose dedication is changing lives through her selfless service.
