In a moment of unexpected celebration, Belton High School senior Malachi Santana received a flood of congratulatory messages for a prestigious musical theater award. Though initially unsure of the distinction, Santana soon realized it was, in his words, a “huge deal.”

Two violin students, Greta Butterworth and Kathryn Ward, have been selected to perform in the 2026 Alabama All-State Orchestra Festival from February 12 to February 16 in Tuscaloosa.
