Chemours Strengthens Leadership with Tech Industry Veteran

Wilmington, Del. —In a significant addition to its leadership team, The Chemours Company has appointed Joseph (Joe) Kava to its Board of Directors, effective January 3, 2025. Kava, who currently serves as Vice President of Data Centers at Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), brings with him three decades of experience in leadership, operations, and technology.

A Proven Leader in Sustainable Technology

At Google, Kava oversees the global fleet of data centers, focusing on site selection, design, construction management, operations, power purchasing, engineering, environmental health and safety, and sustainability. His commitment to building sustainable data centers has positioned Google’s facilities as some of the most advanced and efficient in the industry.

“Joe is a staunch advocate for building sustainable data centers, and throughout his tenure at Google has focused on internalizing and operationalizing the company’s globally distributed data centers,” the company stated.

Extensive Experience in Technology and Engineering

Prior to his tenure at Google, Kava served as Chief Operating Officer at RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, a provider of enterprise-grade data center solutions and connectivity services. In this role, he was responsible for design, construction, facility operations, managed services, business planning, and development.

Kava’s career also includes 17 years in the semiconductor industry with LSI Logic and Applied Materials—a global leader in materials engineering solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display, and photovoltaic industries. His roles spanned process and product development, new product introductions, engineering operations, business development, general management, and IT operations.

Academic Achievements and Patents

Joe Kava earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Demonstrating his technical expertise, he holds four U.S. patents for his work in reactive ion and plasma etch technology.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kava is dedicated to community service. He serves on the boards of two leading 501(c)(3) organizations: The Sean Brock Foundation and The Tech Interactive, a science and technology center offering hands-on activities, labs, design challenges, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education resources.
