Roslovic’s Mid-Game Signing

Jack Roslovic was the number one free agent still unsigned heading into the opening night of the 2025–26 NHL season. That changed halfway through the Edmonton Oilers’ season opener against the Calgary Flames, when the team officially revealed Roslovic’s addition. Fans expecting only the usual season-start buzz were treated to an unexpected development, as his decision to join Edmonton ended his free-agent status in dramatic fashion.

What This Means for Edmonton

The Oilers’ announcement outlined that Roslovic agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. By securing this deal, Edmonton gains an established forward who, until recently, was the most talked-about free agent on the market. Although specific roles and line assignments have not been disclosed, this acquisition signals the team’s determination to build a competitive roster for the season. The signing’s mid-game timing also highlights the sense of excitement and ambition fueling the Oilers’ 2025–26 campaign.
