Hardy’s Status for 2026 Season

The University of Missouri will begin its 2026 college football season without running back Ahmad Hardy. According to an announcement reported by Stltoday, Hardy will not see any game action until he has met head coach Eli Drinkwitz’s return criteria.

Drinkwitz’s Explanation

Coach Eli Drinkwitz said Saturday that “Hardy needs to practice at full speed for two weeks before he can play in a game.” This requirement underscores the coaching staff’s emphasis on ensuring full readiness. By prioritizing Hardy’s fitness, Drinkwitz aims to safeguard both the running back’s health and the team’s long-term competitiveness.

Impact on Mizzou’s Offense

Hardy’s absence creates a temporary void in Missouri’s backfield plans for the season’s opening weeks. While the details of how the Tigers will adapt remain limited, the move highlights the importance of depth and readiness in top-level college football. With the Southeastern Conference known for its demanding schedule, the ability to pivot will likely be crucial.

Looking Ahead

Though the timetable for Hardy’s return remains tied to how he progresses in practice, Mizzou fans and teammates can remain hopeful. Once Hardy meets the two-week requirement, he can resume full participation and potentially make a strong impact for the Tigers in the latter part of the 2026 season.
